July 7, 2021: The group met for the first time in the shadow of the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) Camp and the site of the nation’s first watershed project to discuss the flooding and conservation issues facing the Coon Creek Watershed. (Photo courtesy of Monique Hassman)

August 4, 2021: The group meets again, identified goals, began a grant application, and discussed how to reach out to more people from diverse backgrounds to become involved.

September 1, 2021: The group met in the Coon Valley Veterans Memorial Park and chose a name, the Coon Creek Community Watershed Council. This name pays homage to the history of the Coon Creek Watershed, embeds the acronym CCC, and conveys the interest in involving the whole community.
